26.07.05 - Castle View Personnel win Grantown Texas Scramble Golf Open
On Tuesday 26th July, Castle View Personnel’s Four Man ‘All Star’ Golf Team entered the Grantown-on-Spey Open Texas Scramble competition.
The event saw teams from across Scotland battle it out over one of the most scenic courses in the Highlands. Birdies at the first and fourth ensured a solid start for Team CVP, but a missed chance at the short fifth felt like a shot dropped. However, further birdies at 6, 8 and 9 restored momentum and the team reached the turn 5 under.
Successive pars at 10, 11 and 12 seemed to halt the challenge until a birdie at 13 put Castle View back in contention. Following a par at 14 and with the bar in sight the team were motivated to an amazing finish which saw them birdie each of the last four holes to finish the event on 10 under par. This was good enough to take the title by a single shot from a team representing the host club.
Nominated Team Captain Stewart McCallum commented afterwards:
‘We have all had a great day. The course was in excellent condition and the weather was great. To win the event was an added bonus and we are delighted with the way the team performed. I would like to thank Grantown Golf Club for their hospitality and we look forward to returning next year to defend the trophy’.
